Tuesday -- The Mallards have traded away top wiffleball prospect Dan Haverty to the Screwballs in return for cash considerations and draft picks.
Dan Haverty is expected to be a top league performer this season and noted as a 'top prospect' as he has yet to step into a NWBL batters box. The pitcher was showcased recently on top social media pages such as @Barstool, @Starting9, @thescore and many more for his tough to bat against pitches. Haverty will hope to pave the way for the Screwballs to a league title in year one.
In return the Mallards acquired cash considerations as well as two first-round draft picks (2021 & 2022).
"This was such a tough decision losing Havs... but will pave the way for 2020 World Series winner Matt King and newcomer Jared King and allow them to showcase their talent." Mallards manager Chad Marescalchi said following the deal.
The Mallards are in the leagues Opening Series which is slated to take place Sunday June 7 at 3:05 PM EST and can be streamed live on Youtube. The Screwballs will begin their season against expansion team the Inglorious Batters on Monday night.
